The 2012 Topps Heritage set is scheduled to be released on Wednesday March 14th and if you have collect Topps Heritage in the past, you probably already know that the 2012 cards will be modeled after the 1963 Topps set (one of my personal favorites). Packs will contain nine cards and hobby cases will contain 12 boxes of 24 packs. All autographs are on the card and each hobby box will contain one autograph or relic card.
For the fifth consecutive year, the base set will consist of 500 cards and like the past few years, the last 75 cards will be short prints. In addition to individual player cards, there will be multi-player rookie cards, league leader cards and World Series highlight cards.
The chrome sets will maintain the standard Heritage format with a 100 card regular chrome set (#’s out of 1963), a refractor set (numbered out of 563) and a black border refractor set (numbered out of 63). All four regular insert sets return as well…the fifteen card New Age Performers set, the ten card Then and Now set, the ten card Baseball Flashbacks set and the ten card News Flashbacks set. There will be a new 46 card Topps Stick-Ons set that is a tribute to the original 1963 stick-ons and there will also be serial numbered original 1963 Topps Stick-Ons in some hobby boxes.
The relic cards this year are similar to 2011, with 50 Clubhouse Collection relics, five Clubhouse Collection dual relics, ten Flashback stadium seat relics and the return of the coin and stamp cards. There are two coin sets, the ’63 Mint set and a new JFK Story ’63 Mint set. The stamp set is a seven card JFK Story Stamp Collection.
Autographs include the well known Real One (blue ink) and Real One Special Edition (Red Ink #/63), Real One Dual Auto’s, Flashback Auto’s and 1963 Cut Signatures.
Autograph relic sets will consist of Clubhouse Collection Auto Relics (#/25), Flashback Auto Relics (#/25) and Clubhouse Collection Dual Auto Relics (#/10).
Hobby box toppers will return for 2012 as well. Each hobby box will contain either an advertising panel featuring a strip of three cards or a foil stamped 1963 Topps original card.
I will post more information on 2012 Topps Heritage as the release date approaches.
